Still in Peru

So, as most of you know this is a 6 month trip.  We are currently on our fourth month and we are still heading South.  I am not sure how this is going to work, becaue we have to be home in 60 days and so far it has taken us about 120 days to get here.  We still plan on going through Chile, Argentina, Paruaguay and Bolivia, and then start heading home (i think we are going to be a little late).  Anyway, things are going well, I am having a bit of trouble with my bike but other then that we are both in relitivly good health and are moving again.  Yesterday we drove through the Nasca Lines.  The Nasca Lines were discovered in 1945.  The Nazca Lines are a network of lines and designs of spiders, whales, astronautes, fish, monkeys ext. but you cant see it from the gound.  The only way to view it is from an airplane, or a look out tower gives you a view of two of the designs.  The following picture is supposed to be a tree.   They figure they were made in 600 A.D, and nobody can figure out how they did it.

The other day Liz and I were in a resturant and theses two kids were playing around.  I had to laugh when I heard what they were playing.  It was similar to cops and robber but there version was police and terrorists!

Today was one of the hardest days of riding we have had to date.  We got caught in a sand storm.  The road almost completly disaperied and there was sand drifts up to 4 feet high accross the road in some places.  It was just amazing, it was similar to a snow blizzard but it was hot and when you hit a sand drift it sends your bike all over the place.  We had sand everywhere, it managed to get into our socks and shoes, our helmets.  It was really quite amazing.  Never experianced anything like that before, but I hope we dont have to do it again.

Lizs bike flipped over to 20,000km! this little 250 is pretty spectacular.

2 total marks.

Good to see you back on the road and in good spirits and hopefully you won't have any more sand storms to endure. Keep on truckin' as the saying goes, and post an update when you can.

Hi Cal&Liz,

Good to see your both feeling better and still moving south.
Cal, you mentioned that you were having a problem with you bike, what's the problem? I'm sure you'll work it out though. Also it was good to see the pictures of a couple of other KLR riders from Canada. Where are they from, and where are they going? I showed my wife, (Nancy) the picture of the three KLR's in a row and said "see, your not the only women KLR rider" sometimes she thinks she is. It always surprises people when we roll up together on identical bikes. But with the Dual-Star lowering link on the bikes, and the front dropped 1.5" it's not so high a ride. Anyway stay cool, ride safe.
