Sick...

So we promised to update the website more often, but nothing much to report.  Liz and I have both been very sick and waiting to get better in Lima.  I got sick first, I hate hospitals (as do most men) but when I started coughing up blood Liz insisted that I go.  So off to the hospital we went.  It was just unbelievable, we got there and instantly I was admitted and thrown into a hospital room.  About 5 minutes went by and I was surrounded by nurses, there was one checking my temperature, one checking the oxygen levels in my blood, and another checking my blood pressure.  All the nurses were short women in funny little nurse outfits, including the funny little square hat like they used  in the 70s.   So that was done in about 3 minutes, then the doctor came in.  He assessed me pretty quick and told me that I had a very serious infection.  He explained to me that I shouldn't worry about coughing up blood because that is quite normal in Peru.  It wasn't nearly as comforting to me as it was meant to be.  Anyway, he prescribed me a bunch of drugs and sent me on my way.  So a little over 100USD and 15 minutes and I was on my way to being healthy again.  So Liz and I have been cooped up in a small hotel room, sick and board and not feeling well enough to go anywhere for days.  Not a fun situation, but I guess its still better then being back in Canada freezing my ass off.  The day after I went to the hospital we were back.  Liz was starting to fall over and was complaining a lot about her ear.  So a similar visit to the hospital (but involving a few needles) and a few more dollars Liz was released with a bunch of drugs as well to fix up her inner ear infection.  So tomorrow is the big day, we are finally leaving Lima and onto Chile.  As some of you know this is a six month trip and we should have stated heading North on the 4th of February but we just cant seem to start heading home.  We are well over half way through our money, and half way through our time, but we try not to worry ourselves about that sort of thing.  So wish us luck and keep us in your prayers because we got a long way to go.  I hope the next journal will be full of interesting stories once again.  I will try to do something dumb to keep you all  amused.
