So first of all we need to thank Zack. Zack is from the states and we met him in Dominical. he is one of the nicest people we´ve met since we left. the thanks is owed to him for the pushing and pushing and even more pushing of my (Liz) bike. It seems that my bike hates water, so being at the ocean in the rain was not good. every morning, with his hangover , Zack would pop out of his tent just to help bump start my bike. thanks
We are in Panama now and everything is a bit crazy. The roads are much better, but that is a problem for Caleb cause he keeps getting pulled over for speeding. He is lucky that the cops want his money now, cause he won´t give it to them; so they threaten him with tickets and let him go. Good thing theres bribery here, otherwise we´d be swimming in tickets from honest cops.
The backwoods are similar to the rest of central america, but we are now in Panama city, and this is truly its own world. I speak for myself when I say I´ve never seen anything like it. Caleb is happy that we are in the same neighborhood he was in 4 years ago, its interesting how little has changed. I can´t describe the madness of Panama, but we will be taking pìctures and posting them tommorrow if possible, so the pictures will describe it for us.
We went for dinner tonight and met a man who called himself " Freedom ". He is from Brooklyn, N.Y. and travels the world reciting poetry. He welcomed us to panama with a poem like nothing we have ever heard. It was a true story about his friend from N.Y. who had been leading the tough life on the streets and how he made his living from stealing until on day he was shot. When I put it like that its not so intereesting, but for a man to put this story into a 10 minute poem and fill it with emotion and humor was unbelievable. He also showed us where to eat and buy cheep beer (the essencials to most others) and left us with a smile.
Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad and God bless you all, we miss you and look forward to your e-mails, guestbook notes and any form of communication you can think of!
Liz
